Understand the reading your Mac reports.
The thermal display is a system condition, which is different from a sensor temperature.
What MacStatsBar shows
MacStatsBar displays the thermal condition reported by macOS as Normal, Warm, Hot or Critical. Choose a word or a dot in the menu bar, or open the live card to read the current condition.
Thermal condition and temperature are different
If you are searching for a Mac CPU temperature monitor, decide whether you need a condition overview or a particular sensor reading in degrees. MacStatsBar provides the condition overview.
When a sensor tool may suit your needs
An exact temperature, fan speed or GPU sensor requires a tool that supports that reading on your specific Mac. Check the iStat Menus comparison with MacStatsBar, iStatistica Pro comparison with MacStatsBar and Stats comparison with MacStatsBar for these differences. MacStatsBar has no fan controls.
Keep the condition in context
A thermal reading is one piece of information about the current system. It does not identify a faulty component or measure the room temperature. If you are concerned about your hardware, use the Mac's support and diagnostic options rather than relying on one label.
